The Joy of Cooking...

Tria Culinary Studio

Tria (tree-a), from the Latin for three, is the union of Natures Way Farm, Blue Moon Estate Winery and Tria Culinary Studio.  The concept of Tria is to bring together farm, wine and food in one beautiful place.  (Click to view map)

Tria is located at Natures Way Farm in Courtenay.  We are committed to offering an agritourism and wine and culinary tourism destination that features the very best of the Comox Valley and Vancouver Island.  At Tria, we believe supporting local and seasonal growers and producers is an important step in building a strong community and promoting food sustainability.  Tria brings together the joy of cooking, a passion for wine and a love for growing food.

Tria offers cooking classes, catering, Full Moon Feasts and custom dining.  Come and see us every Saturday from April to October at the Comox Valley Farmers’ Market where we will be selling hot crepes, made-to-order with our berry marmellata.

Guests are also welcome to visit us at the farm, where Natures Way sells their certified organic produce, Blue Moon’s delicious berry dessert wine and delectable products created in Tria’s kitchen.

About

Operating a farm-kitchen is a dream that Tria co-owner, Kathy Jerritt, has had for many years.

Kathy completed her formal culinary training at the esteemed Culinary Institute of Vancouver Island.  Upon graduation she made the decision to travel and work abroad in order to experience as much food and culture the world has to offer.  Kathy has worked and travelled throughout Europe, the United Kingdom, Asia and North America gathering a ‘soup pot’ full of traditional and regional techniques and methods.

Prior to entering the culinary industry, Kathy worked in the health and fitness industry, first as a personal trainer and after completing her training in San Diego, as a post-rehabilitative instructor.  Included in her training were numerous hours of nutritional education.

Kathy has spent the last two years as the Executive Chef at Coastal Trek Health and Fitness Resort on Forbidden Plateau.  Operating the kitchen at Coastal Trek gave her the opportunity to concentrate her focus on the bounty grown and produced in the Comox Valley.  The position at Coastal Trek allowed her to develop a strong, working relationship with the Comox Valley farmers.  It was through Coastal Trek that Kathy met Marla and George of Nature’s Way Farm and Blue Moon Winery and the dream of Tria was conceived: a love of farming, a passion for wine and the joy of cooking.

After extensive travel Kathy can say with certainty and pride that there is nowhere else in the world she would rather operate Tria.

Kathy and her husband Guy Ridler live in Courtenay and have recently dug up their lawn in order to plant potatoes.  Guy shares in Kathy’s passion for cooking and makes a great partner in the kitchen as well as in life.
